Elizabeth McKenna Greenberg

Native Coloradoan violinist Elizabeth McKenna Greenberg graduated with a Bachelor of Music in violin from the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in 1983. She was a Graduate Fellow at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, receiving her Masters degree in music in 1986. For seventeen years, she played in the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, the Houston Ballet Orchestra and as a regular extra player in the Houston Symphony Orchestra.

In 1994, Elizabeth founded The Houston String Quartet and The Elizabeth Trio with colleagues from the Houston Ballet and the Houston Symphony. Elizabeth played first violin and managed all aspects of the business, playing over sixty-five engagements each year. Elizabeth began playing violin with the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra in 2002.

Summer festivals in which she performed include the Aspen Music Festival, the Grand Teton Festival Orchestra, Music in the Mountains, the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, the National Repertory Orchestra and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.

Elizabeth maintains a teaching studio at her home in Lone Tree. She also performs with the Junior Symphony Guild, an organization sponsoring orchestral performances for children in the Denver area.

Mrs. Greenberg served as a Commissioner of the Lone Tree Arts Commission, an organization that advises the Lone Tree City Council.  She chaired the Passport to Culture committee which provides programming to area children.  Initially the program included in-school arts performances.
