Sarah Richardson

Sarah Richardson’s love of chamber music was fostered by her first private teacher, T. Burns Westman of Oklahoma City, OK. She performed and competed with the Oklahoma City Junior Symphony Quartet throughout middle and high school. Sarah is an alumni of The Quartet Program, a summer program dedicated to teaching and performing chamber music, from 1974-1977. She graduated with a B.F.A. in Viola Performance from the State University of New York College at Purchase where she was a student of Heidi Castleman.

Prior to moving to the Front Range, Sarah performed with the Oklahoma City Symphony, the Dallas Symphony, the Dallas Opera and the Omaha Symphony. In 2004, Ms. Richardson founded the Littleton Youth Symphony and served as Artistic Director through 2010.

Sarah joined the Colorado Springs Philharmonic in 2001 and has been a member of the Hausmusik Quartet of Colorado Springs since 2006. Currently, she is a member of the Central City Opera Orchestra and is the principal violist of the Colorado Chamber Orchestra. After resigning from the Colorado Springs Philharmonic in 2004 to spend more time with family, Sarah rejoined the orchestra again in 2010. She also performs with the Colorado Symphony, Inside the Orchestra and the Colorado Ballet. Sarah teaches violin and viola in her private home studio and elementary orchestra classes in Castle Rock. In her leisure time Sarah enjoys running, hiking, camping, playing with her rescued greyhounds and writing a blog for her website beyond do re mi.
