On May 9th and 10th, the Pikes Peak Center came alive as John Williams’ legendary score Star Wars: A New Hope played to nearly sold-out crowds. This wasn’t just any movie night. It was an immersive return to a galaxy far, far away—where the music isn’t just background, but a vital force of its own.
For many, these performances rekindled memories of childhood awe: that first lightsaber ignition, the triumphant brass of the Rebel fanfare. For others, it was a brand-new journey—especially our youngest guests, eyes wide and faces lit by both the screen and the symphony. One photo captured a special moment: a beaming father and his daughter, whose night at the orchestra was her first Star Wars and Philharmonic experience!
The Philharmonic also hosted its inaugural Family Fun Night, welcoming United States Air Force Academy STEM Education Director Stacey Lazelle, who brought an engaging, science-infused craft to the lobby. The “Make Your Own Constellation” table sparkled with imagination as kids—and kids at heart — created stellar skies of their own.
The Force was strong with us that night. And we can’t wait for the next one.
