Free to Create, Always

Here’s the thing about being the only independent cultural organization of our kind in Southern Colorado

The Colorado Springs Philharmonic does its work without a university’s backing or a government safety net. No funding committees or institutional mandates are guiding our choices—just a commitment to the music, our mission, and you. True independence is rare in the cultural world today, but it’s exactly what fuels our creative freedom.  It lets our musicians take artistic risks, push boundaries, and keep it all distinctly Colorado Springs.

Yet independence comes with a catch: we need *you*.

Without institutional backing, every performance, every outreach program, every note depends on the support of people who believe in what we do. Our freedom isn’t just something we chose for ourselves; it’s a call to the community to be part of something rare and authentic. By supporting us, you’re choosing to sustain a symphony that reflects Colorado Springs alone—fiercely independent, original, and entirely local.

Of course, this setup keeps us on our toes. There’s no coasting when you’re on your own, so we’re always thinking about what’s next—how to bring the best experiences and innovative programs to our patrons. This way, every concert is an investment in a future that we build together.

So when you’re at a performance, know that you’re not just part of the audience; you’re part of our independence story. Because without you, well, we’d still be here, just a bit quieter. And for a Philharmonic, that’s not quite the point.
