The Mouthful of the Century
Before we dive into the history, let’s tackle the elephant in the room. How do you actually say it?

In 2026, we find ourselves at the heart of a truly historic “triple anniversary.” Not only is it the 250th year of American independence and Colorado’s 150th year of statehood, but the Colorado Springs Philharmonic is also celebrating our landmark 100th Season! This rare Sesquisemiquincentennial is a moment for us to pause, look back at the trail we’ve blazed, and imagine the path ahead together.
Moments That Made Us
To celebrate these overlapping milestones, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic is proud to collaborate with El Paso County on a special community initiative: Moments That Made Us.
History isn’t just found in textbooks; it lives in our photo albums, our traditions, and our memories. Our County, State, and Nation are built on the personal milestones of the people who call this place home. Whether it’s a faded photo of a family hike at Garden of the Gods, a story of military service, or a cherished tradition passed down through generations—these are the threads that weave our shared story as Coloradans and Americans.
Join the Story
As we prepare for our centennial performances, we want to see the moments that shaped you. We are collecting photos and stories to be:
- Featured on El Paso County official social media channels.
- Showcased on a community timeline during the El Paso County Fair.
- Celebrated through this unique partnership between the Philharmonic and the County to highlight 100 years of music and local heritage.
How to contribute: Simply email your photos and a brief description to epcpio@elpasoco.com.
As we look toward the future, let’s honor the century of music and the generations of community that brought us here. Your story is our history—let’s preserve it together.
