The energy at the Pikes Peak Center was already electric this past Saturday, April 11th. Our Wickedly Broadway performance with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic had just come to a rousing close, but for many, the music was far from over.
As the main stage lights dimmed, the crowd migrated toward Studio Bee for a special Nightcap performance presented by the Colorado Springs Conservatory. What started as a quiet transition quickly turned into a packed house; every seat was claimed, and many more patrons filled the edges of the room in eager anticipation.
Exceptional Talent on Display
The evening featured two exceptional students from the Conservatory, Chloe Lee and Ella Illsley. The duo treated the audience to a three-song setlist of Broadway favorites, ensuring the magic of the theater continued long after the final curtain call of the main show.
The repertoire was a perfect blend of contemporary and classic musical theater:
- “Waiting on a Wish” from Snow White (Pasek and Paul)
- “The Beauty Is” from The Light in the Piazza (Adam Guettel)
- “For Good” from Wicked (Stephen Schwartz)
The chemistry between Chloe and Ella was palpable, and their rendition of “For Good” served as a poignant finale. The audience was absolutely rapt, culminating in a well-deserved standing ovation that echoed through the studio.
Celebrating the Future
During the set, CEO of the Colorado Springs Conservatory Nathan Halvorson took a moment to speak about the vital work the Colorado Springs Conservatory does for our local youth. He specifically recognized Chloe and Ella, noting that both performers are graduating this year and heading off to university in the fall. It was a proud moment for the community to see such polished talent ready to take on the world.
A Note of Thanks
These intimate, post-concert experiences wouldn’t be possible without our community partners. The Nightcaps are generously sponsored by The Screening Room, whose support allows us to keep the music playing just a little bit longer.
It was a night filled with Broadway hits, smiles, and a staggering amount of talent—both on the main stage and in the cozy confines of Studio Bee. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to cap off such a “wicked” Saturday.
