Karine Garibova

Violinist Karine Garibova, born and raised in Moscow, Russia, started playing violin at the age of six. She knew early on music would be her life long passion. Karine earned both MM and DMA degrees from the Gnesins’ Russian Academy of Music in Moscow, as well as an MM degree from Miami University, Oxford, OH, and an Artistic Diploma from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, WI.

Karine is a founding member of the Veronika String Quartet. Since its formation in 1989, this award-winning group has established itself as an outstanding ensemble. The unique sound of the Quartet has led to success in international competitions as well as in concert halls. The VSQ has performed widely in the U.S., Australia, Europe, Russia, and the Middle East. The group has appeared on stage with the American and the Fine Arts Quartets, cellist Martin Lovett of the Amadeus Quartet, clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, and pianists Lawrence Leighton Smith, James Tocco and Ruth Laredo.

The quartet appears frequently on NPR’s Colorado Spotlight Series. The VSQ is currently hosting a popular and critically-acclaimed concert series in both Pueblo and Colorado Springs, highlights of which can be found on YouTube.

Since 2000 Karine has been playing with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, where she became Associate Principal Second Violin in 2004.
