Cedra Kuehn

Associate Principal Cellist Cedra Kuehn joined the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and The Central City Opera Orchestra in 1983. As a member of the Junior Symphony Guild’s Inside the Orchestra and Tiny Tots Orchestra, she performs 30 to 40 concerts every year for preschoolers and elementary school students. She also enjoys the variety of freelancing in the Denver area, which includes frequent substituting with the Colorado Symphony, studio recording, performing with national touring shows at the Buell Theatre and accompanying a wide variety of popular artists such as Rod Stewart; Josh Groban; Lyle Lovett; and Earth, Wind, and Fire. Recently Cedra enjoyed performing as a guest artist in joint concerts with the Veronika Quartet and the Colorado Chamber Players. She has also performed as a soloist with the Mercury Ensemble Chamber Orchestra and the Chautauqua Symphony.

Cedra received her education at North Carolina School of the Arts, the University of Colorado, and Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music. Teachers have included Frantisek Smetana, Denis Brott, Jurgen de Lemos, and Christopher Adkins and David Lockington. As a student, Cedra was a member of the National Repertory Orchestra and attended Eastern Music Festival and Chatauqua Music Festival of New York. She also toured Italy as a member of the North Carolina School of the Arts International Music Program.

Cedra offers private cello lessons in her home studio in Aurora where she resides with her husband Dan, Second and Assistant Trumpet with the Colorado Symphony.
