Sergei Vassiliev

Clarinetist Sergei Vassiliev is a solo, chamber music, and studio recording artist as well as orchestral musician and teacher. His recent solo engagements include Weber and Spohr concertos with orchestras in Colorado. Sergei’s chamber music appearances include Taos Chamber Group, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Festival Mozaic and Green Box Arts Festival. He recorded contemporary music with “Quattro Mani” on Bridge Records label, klezmer and film music in Southern Colorado and Denver studios. Sergei has held principal clarinet positions with Des Moines Metro Opera Orchestra and Boise Philharmonic, has appeared with Houston, Colorado Symphonies, Las Vegas Philharmonic and many other symphony orchestras. He is the tenured principal clarinetist with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. Sergei maintains a teaching studio in Colorado Springs. He is also an adjunct instructor of clarinet at Colorado State University – Fort Collins and University of Colorado – Colorado Springs. Sergei’s principal teachers are Yehuda Gilad, Richard Hawkins, Fred Ormand, and Michael Webster. He holds degrees from University of Michigan, Rice University and University of Southern California.
